American computerised gaming equipment designer and manufacturer International Game Technology (IGT) has announced that its recently acquired Double Down Interactive subsidiary has launched a version of the popular Da Vinci Diamonds slot on Facebook via its DoubleDown Casino.
Seattle-based Double Down Interactive has operated its DoubleDown Casino on Facebook since April of 2004 and was purchased earlier in the year by IGT for a price that could eventually rise to $500 million. It launched a free-to-play Texas hold’em poker game over the social networking service last month and stated that Da Vinci Diamonds has become the first IGT title to appear on multiple platforms ‘from land-based to social’ and will be adapted for mobile devices ‘in the future’.
“Slot players around the globe have made Da Vinci Diamonds a fan favourite since the game first debuted in 2007,” said Robert Melendres, Emerging Businesses Executive Vice-President for Las Vegas-based IGT.
“The game has been a breakthrough hit in interactive wager markets since it is equally suited for both novice and experienced players. The game's visual appeal with features that allow for extended play and free spin bonuses as well as the impressive 20-payline configuration made it a prime candidate for DoubleDown Casino's catalogue of virtual titles.”
Double Down declared that the release of Da Vinci Diamonds is in line with IGT’s strategy of providing ‘thrilling entertainment content across all available platforms’.
